Romney, Hampshire County, West Virginia, United States
The Hampshire County Independent Network is an informal coalition of progressive activists in Hampshire County, West Virginia, organized in 2005. Some of the activities we have sponsored include periodic anti-war demonstrations in front of the county courthouse, which have received front-page coverage in local media, and a discussion of the impeachment of George W. Bush at the public library in November 2006. We also drafted a resolution challenging provisions of the USA Patriot Act, which was unanimously adopted by the Hampshire County Commission in May 2005, making ours the only county in West Virginia to take an official position on that issue.
